ON SITE

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard offers a selection of shopping outlets on site and a variety of eating and drinking establishments, including picnic areas with spectacular views.

Food & Drink

Sailors were generally well-nourished to keep spirits and energy levels high for their busy days aboard ship. At Portsmouth Historic Dockyard we continue this tradition, providing a range of cafés where you can lower the sails and enjoy a delicious hot lunch, reviving Costa coffee, or a refreshing cold drink with some tasty home-made treats.

Café

Boat house No. 07: Boathouse No.7 serves a range of hot meals including fish and chips, artisan stone-baked pizza and deli classics.
Boat house No.04: The delicious menu includes everything from crab to steak to prawns to fish finger sandwiches, something for everyone including the children’s menu.

Picnic Areas

For families and individuals who love a spot of al fresco dining, while taking in the salty sea air and spectacular views, there are three picnic areas to choose from. Porter's Garden is a quiet leafy sanctuary, while Port Arena allows visitors to enjoy a picnic lunch while marvelling at history in the flesh. For simpler tastes, take a pew outside Boathouse No.7, sit back and admire the fantastic architecture.

Porter’s Garden:

Enjoy your picnic in the peaceful and beautiful surroundings of Porter's Garden, lovingly maintained by our dedicated group of volunteers.

  • Boat House No. 07: Sit outside our Boathouse No. 7 restaurant and admire the wonderful architecture of the Great Storehouses.
