School Visits at The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool
Go on an adventure with your class at the National Museum of the Royal Navy: Hartlepool and visit our world-class historic ship and quayside and our exciting Fighting Ships experience. The museum offers a flexible teacher-led visit which can be tailored to fit class size and time constraints.

How to Book
- To make your school booking, please complete the booking request form>>
- UK school visits are required to be booked at least 7 days in advance. Schools not booked in advance cannot be accepted
- To qualify for a UK school rate, a group must consist of a minimum of 12 paying persons

Preliminary Visits
We strongly advise a preliminary visit in order to familiarise yourself with the site and complete risk assessment paperwork. For groups already booked you will need to bring the booking reference as proof. On arrival you will issued with up to 3 adult tickets or at weekends and holidays 1 family ticket. For groups that haven’t yet booked only 1 ticket will be available for the school.
Health and Safety
The National Museum of the Royal Navy has comprehensive procedures and policies including Safeguarding, Risk Assessments and First Aid. Copies are available on request.
Group Size
Our maximum number for a teacher-led discovery visit is up to 150 young people.
Visit Length
We recommend allowing at least 2 hours for a teacher-led Discovery Visit but a group can spend all day on site.
Supervision of Groups
We offer free access to supervising staff members during your visit, with ratios relevant to the age of your group (found within the ‘prices’ section). When navigating the site, we ask that these ratios are maintained within small groups.
Lunch Facilities
Indoor facilities can be booked in advance but space is limited and not guaranteed. There are also picnic located benches around the quayside.

We pride ourselves on our flexible approach to meeting the needs of a wide audience, whatever their individual needs (physical, learning or otherwise). Please talk to our team to agree how we can best meet the requirements of your group.
Getting Here
The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool is right in the heart of Hartlepool’s Marina and is close to the A19.
There is lots of free onsite car and coach parking.
