The NMRN is a Charitable Company, Limited by Guarantee. Its Charity Trustees both own the Company as Members and are its Company Directors. Our Trustees are not subject to Ministerial appointment, but as a matter of good practice, the Museum follows the Office of the Commissioner of Public Appointments (OCPA) guidelines in making Trustee appointments.

The National Museum’s Articles of Association make provision for 15 Members/Directors/Charity Trustees

Trustees are selected for the range of competences they can bring to the Museum: Fundraising and Development, Charity Law, Business, Accountancy and Audit, Media and Public Relations, Museology, Naval History and the Higher Management of Defence.
