Project News

It is an exciting time at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as work on ‘HMS: Hear My Story’ gathers momentum. The Museum’s old 20th century gallery has finally closed; 100s of items have come off display and curators are busy carefully checking that everything is where it should be.

As we gear up for the building work which will create the new exhibition galleries, we are offering lots of new events where you can find out exactly what is happening.

Before the historic collections go back into store visitors have a last chance to see old favourites, alongside new star items which will feature in ‘HMS: Hear My Story’. From 29th October to 4th November our Gallery staff will be giving special 45-minute tours that take you into our attic stores and give you a chance to see behind the scenes. See Events for full details.

We are also taking the project out on the road. Members of the team will be at the fantastic ‘Sea Life Roadshow’ at Eastney Community Centre on Thursday 1st November. Why not drop in, join in the fun and find out more.

On the 17th November why not join the architects and wider project team for a very special ‘Storehouse 10: Hard Hat Tour’ which will walk the site.
