Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy

The support of our Friends is vital as we strive to be the world’s most inspiring naval museums and link Navy to Nation.

They help us to create world-class exhibitions and galleries, as well as care for our collections and inspire future generations. You can learn a bit more about them below:

The Society of Friends of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum is an active, involved, and independent charity supporting the Museum staff to preserve the heritage of the Submarine Service by raising money (over £500,000 since 1995). Members also provide an unrivalled source of submarine expertise. We maintain and grow our own online collection of submarine facts and folklore which members contribute to and maintain the Submarine Online Book of Remembrance. Membership is open to all interested in preserving the heritage of the Submarine Service.

American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy (AFNMRN)

The American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy was formed in 2008 to promote the special bond, relationship, and rich history of the special relationship between the two nations’ navies. The key event in their calendar is the New York City Pickle Night Dinner which was first organised in 2004 by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers. The dinner, held annually in October at the New York yacht Club, celebrates Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson’s career and the enduring significance of the Battle of Trafalgar attracts attendees from all over North America.
