We love hearing how much our couples enjoy their special day at the National Museum of the Royal Navy – and Charlotte and Michael’s beautiful wedding is no exception. Today, we're heading to Hartlepool to share their unforgettable celebration aboard HMS Trincomalee, complete with heartfelt moments, seaside charm, and a touch of nautical adventure.
Meet the Couple
Charlotte and Michael tied the knot on 26th April 2025, in an incredibly unique and meaningful setting – the stunning HMS Trincomalee. Though now based in Seaton Carew, Charlotte originally hails from Keighley. The couple's story is as relaxed and genuine as their wedding day.
“We met online and had our first date on the beach at Seaham,” Charlotte tells us. “Michael talked about rocks and climbing, and I was just dreaming of a swim in the sea.”

The pair knew early on that they wanted to marry on the Trincomalee – so much so, they booked their venue before even getting engaged! That special moment came while on holiday in Portugal, though it came with a twist. Due to the heat, Charlotte’s fingers swelled, and a few months later, she lost her engagement ring at their allotment. Incredibly, her future father-in-law found it just a week before the wedding – and had it resized just in time.
Why HMS Trincomalee?
For Charlotte, who spent years teaching people to sail on tall ships, the sea holds a special place in her heart. For Michael, it was all about having a cool, one-of-a-kind venue.
“It was a no-brainer,” they said. “Charlotte loves the sea and Michael loves the ship – the Trincomalee is just beautiful and full of character."

The Ceremony & Reception
Their ceremony took place onboard HMS Trincomalee, followed by a drinks reception and photo session on deck – capturing stunning images that perfectly reflect the day’s atmosphere. The celebration then continued at Hartlepool Yacht Club, just a stone’s throw away.

Favourite Moments?
For Charlotte and Michael, it’s hard to choose just one highlight.
“Everything was so smooth and lovely. The boat is so beautiful, it doesn’t need decorations. Plus, getting to borrow swords for our photos was so much fun!”
Anything you'd do differently or advice?
When asked if they would change anything, or if they had advice for other couples thinking of getting married on board HMS Trincomalee, their answer was simple:
“Absolutely not! - Just do it, it’s magical and lovely.”
