    ·         Discovery of time capsule prompts nationwide appeal for artefacts

    ·         Everyday items of Wren life sought

    A time capsule, buried at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in 1974, and which defined the life of a naval Wren 40 years ago, has resurfaced and prompted organisers behind a major new exhibition to make a plea for artefacts to fill in gaps in the 100 year-long history of women in the navy.

    Armed Steam Cutter

    Marking 100 years nearly to the day since the sinking of her parent ship, HMS Falmouth at the Battle of Jutland, unique survivor Armed Steam Cutter (ASC) number 26 has arrived at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

    The recently restored last floating survivor of the 1916 Battle of Jutland, HMS Caroline, has been awarded a five-star visitor attraction rating, signifying that the attraction is operating to an ‘outstanding’ level, John McGrillen, Chief Executive Tourism Northern Ireland has announced.

    The five-star accreditation was awarded under the Tourism Northern Ireland Visitor Attraction Experience Quality Grading scheme designed to provide visitors with quality grading information on Northern Ireland’s tourist attractions.
