HMS Caroline picks its winner!

HMS Caroline is very pleased to announce the winner of its Photography Competition!

The worthy winner is Six Mile Images, an amateur photographer based in Northern Ireland.

Over the summer months, HMS Caroline held a photography competition where visitors to the Alexandra Dock could submit their images via email and Instagram for a chance of winning £1000!

We received scores of images during the course of the competition and the judges we incredibly impressed with the originality and range of the photographs submitted. The competition was open to photographers of all abilities, judges were looking for images with a visual and emotional impact, and which offered a fresh perspective on the vessel and her surrounding environment. In their scoring, judges did consider basic technical flaws (eg. whether an image was out of focus), but scoring was weighted to reward the vision and interpretation of the subject matter by entrants.

The judging panel felt the winning image to be incredibly well balanced, crisply coloured whilst conveying an important narrative of Belfast's maritime heritage through the incorporation of city's maritime icons, the Harland and Wolff cranes, HMS Caroline and Titanic Belfast.
