Heritage Open Days: Spotlight on the Naval Architecture of Submarines

The National Museum of the Royal Navy are taking part in Heritage Open Days 2025, England’s largest festival of culture, offering the public a chance to celebrate their heritage, community and history all for free.
Join the Royal Navy Submarine Museum for a special spotlight tour of HMS Alliance, discovering the sole surviving Second World War-era submarine, a rich example of naval architecture. Climb aboard and find out about life on Alliance, explore the challenges and camaraderie onboard submarines, and see everything from where torpedoes were kept to the all-important periscope. Following your tour of HMS Alliance, visitors will get the chance to meet one of the museum's guides and take part in a walking tour learning all about the design and introduction of submarines to the Royal Navy.
This event is a part of Heritage Open Days and is completely free to attend, however tickets must be booked in advance. Booking will open on the 23 August.
Please note that HMS Alliance is not fully wheelchair accessible.
