Permanent positions

14 hours per week (4 hour shifts). Two week pattern, including every other weekend

Fixed Term Contracts Until 3 November 2019

12 hours per week (4 hour shifts).
Two week pattern, Week 1: Mon, Thurs, Sun. Week 2: Mon, Fri, Sun.
8 hours per week (4 hours shifts). Every Saturday and Sunday.

Team Member – Café

20 hours per week (4 hour shifts). Two week pattern, including every other weekend.

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting Team Members to join our Visitor Experience team at the National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to work in a variety of settings in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, from HMS Victory and Warrior to all four of our retail outlets on site. You will also be working in the NMRN galleries, on M33 and in our newest addition, our very own café on board HMS Warrior.

Reporting to Duty Managers, these varied roles are pivotal in creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

Key Opportunities

• To deliver an outstanding level of customer care to all of our users through demonstrating the core competencies and NMRN MARITIME values and behaviours.

• To ensure visitors are welcomed, assisted, delighted, engaged and inspired.

• To maximise income generation via ticket sales, guidebook and merchandise sales, café sales, gift aid conversion and other commercial activity.

• To assist in the safety and security for visitors, staff and property.

• To deliver unique, consistent and high levels of visitor experience and satisfaction, in line with the ethos and branding of NMRN.

Knowledge/Experience

• Experience of working in a customer focused environment with retails and sales knowledge is essential

• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.

• Track record of delivering outstanding customer care

• Experience of working under pressure.

• Experience of communicating and engaging with a wide and varied audience.
