Assistant Events Manager

£19,000 per annum


Full time, Permanent (hours will include working unsociable hours and weekends)

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for an Assistant Events Manager to join our Events team based in Portsmouth.This is home to HMS Victory, best known as Lord Nelson’s flagship, HMS Warrior, as well as many other fantastic attractions such as M.33 the sole remaining British veteran of the Gallipoli Campaign, HMS – Hear My Story is a major exhibition situated in the Babcock Galleries.


Key Opportunities


• Responsible for organising, staffing and managing all events on board HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and within NMRN Portsmouth
• Delivering a unique and high level of visitor experience and satisfaction
• Managing a team of events assistants during shifts
• Assisting the Events Manager in delivering targeted income and events
• Bar work for our pop-up bar on board of HMS Warrior during certain events
• Initiating and developing revenue generating events and functions

Knowledge/Experience


Applicants should have previous experience in a customer focused business, ideally in the museums/attractions sector. This should include experience of management of health & safety, proven leadership skills, understanding customer service and customer care principles, as well as understanding and experience of delivering an outstanding customer experience.

In addition applicants need excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, with a positive and innovative attitude.
