Visitor Engagement Executive, Portsmouth based

Salary: £18,000 per annum

37.5 hours per week to include alternate weekends – temporary up to 12-months (fixed-term contract)

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting a Visitor Engagement Executive to join our Commercial Operations team at the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of something special in delivering positive changes to the visitors’ journey and experiences on all of our sites.

This role will be responsible for general administrative duties such as, but not limited to, answering visitor enquiries by providing exceptional customer service face to face, on the phone, via email/letter and social media to ensure potential and existing visitors are delighted. To analyse visitor experience data weekly, monthly or as required and produce visitor reports. To provide support in the administration of the NMRN membership scheme.

This will include supporting the Visitor Engagement Manager with implementation, support, future development and configuration evolution of the Galaxy ticketing system across all NMRN sites.

Key Opportunities

• Opportunity to learn how to configure, contribute and develop our new cutting edge ticketing system.

• Create, analyse and report on visitor data to understand patterns, trends and behaviours and act on the findings.

• Contribute to wider projects and action groups working closely across directorates to deliver changes to improve our overall business.

• Work closely with the wider Visitor Experience team to deliver positive changes to the visitors’ experience.


• Can confidently work across a range of administrative tasks and operate Windows-based software with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Have a good level of professional competence and knowledge relevant to visitor experience and experience of utilising multi-site electronic systems, such as back office EPOS systems.
