Salary: (full-time) £26,000 per annum

Temporary (15-month fixed-term contract) maternity cover - 37.5 hours per week

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a full-time temporary Learning Manager (maternity cover) to join the LEAP (Learning, Engagement, Access and Participation) team at HMS Caroline, Belfast.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our LEAP team to lead, develop and deliver engaging museum learning programmes at NMRN. Your role will be varied.  You will work with school groups, community groups, families and learners of all ages.

You will be an engaging museum educator with great people skills.  You will be up to date with developments in museum learning and be able to think creatively.

Reporting to the Head of Access and Participation this role is pivotal in delivering the HMS Caroline NLHF Activity Plan and creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

Key Opportunities

• To lead on the learning programme for HMS Caroline through the NLHLF project and beyond. Work as part of a team to ensure thrilling formal and informal learning activities for the Museum's audiences.

• To lead site teams in/plan the delivery of engagement, formal and informal learning programmes and activities and outreach.

• Work with colleagues to develop interpretation and targeted resources which delivers learning outcomes for different audiences.

• To maintain and build relationships with stakeholders and networks.

• Support, train and develop other staff and volunteers involved in engagement activities, ensuring quality of delivery.

Knowledge/Experience

• A relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience is required for this role.

• Knowledge of current thinking around museum learning and engagement practice.

• A positive attitude and passion for museum learning and engaging with different audiences.

• Experience of developing projects and working on NLHF activity plans.
