Very occasional travel to other NMRN locations (Belfast, Hartlepool and Yeovilton)

Salary:  £19,000 - £20,000 per annum

37.5 hours per week, permanent

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a full-time Facilities Technician at our Portsmouth Harbour sites.  Working within the Heritage Directorate and closely supporting the Visitor Experience teams in Portsmouth and Gosport.

This is an exciting role reporting to the Facilities Manager and will play a key role in supporting the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

This role will be focused on ensuring a fun, safe and effective environment for our visitors, staff and volunteers. The work will be varied, ranging from attending to building and facilities breakdowns carrying out minor repairs and maintenance duties, supporting contractors on site and supporting project teams with occasional work on the Historic ships.

Key Opportunities

• Work in the newest National Museum, ensuring our buildings, galleries, docks and ships are maintained to a high and safe standard.

• To use skills to maintain our buildings and systems.

• To conduct regular checks and tests on emergency and compliance equipment.

• Working in a unique heritage environment.

Knowledge/Experience

The ideal candidate will be comfortable delivering hands on repairs and maintenance and supervising and supporting contractors.

Applicants should have recent practical work experience in the building/general maintenance sector and have a good working knowledge of Electrical, Plumbing and General Maintenance works.

This role involves a large amount of manual handling.
