Electrical Supervisor
Salary (Grade 6):  £32,320 - £35,500 per annum (dependent upon experience)
37.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 15:30 with an early finish on Friday 07:00 to 12:30)

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to be part of the Historic Ships Conservation team based in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team of museum professionals, conservators and industry specialists committed to high quality professional work maintaining and conserving historic ships and museum galleries/buildings.

Key Opportunities

The majority of your time will be based in the Portsmouth and Gosport area covering historic ships and buildings which include HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, HMS M.33 and museum buildings. With occasional travel to the Museum’s other locations in the UK, including Yeovilton, Hartlepool and Belfast.

To be responsible for managing and supervising one Electrician and subcontractors (when required) and updating the Facilities Management system (CAFM) to track and schedule routine maintenance tasks.
Your work will ensure that the NMRN’s Historic Ships and galleries/buildings are able to operate effectively and safely. With these ships as public attractions, you will also engage with visitors about the important conservation work being undertaken.

As the Electrical Supervisor you will be expected to positively contribute to the performance of the business working closely with the Historic Ships team sharing your knowledge and expertise.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to those involved in interesting and challenging heritage work within historic ships and buildings.

Knowledge/Experience

• We require a qualified Supervisor to work on the tools and plan the works.

• You will have completed an industry recognised apprenticeship, obtaining qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3, or equivalent and AM2.

• Qualified to 2391 or 2394/5 Inspection and Testing.

• You will be required to have previous proven experience in electrical maintenance, fire alarm, intruder systems and emergency lighting systems. Must be familiar with PPM work and be able to carry out reactive electrical work when the need arises.

• PAT Testing Qualification (City and Guilds 2377 parts 1 and 2) would be highly desirable but not essential.

• Applicants must have working knowledge, comply with and be qualified to the 18th Edition of the IEE regulations BS7671.

• This post requires a standard DBS check as a requirement of working on the naval base, this can be obtained once in post.
