Hours: Hours as and when required, hours will include working unsociable hours and weekends


Location: Work across National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard; Submarine Museum and Explosion in Gosport
We are recruiting for Events Assistants to join our team working in a unique heritage environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for an events role to deliver a first-class experience in all our exceptional attractions at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Museums based in Gosport.

This role reports to the Events Manager and this varied role is pivotal in supporting the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.  We run events ranging from weddings, parties, conferences, drinks receptions, VIP dinners onboard our historic vessels. 
Key Opportunities
• Assisting on a variety of events in our unique heritage environment and locations, e.g., HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, The Grand Magazine in Gosport with a range of clientele.
• Bar work for our pop-up bar on board of HMS Warrior during certain events.
Ensure the safety and security on board during all events.
• Occasional office administration including preparing stationery for events.
• Delivering a unique and high level of visitor experience and satisfaction.
Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have a positive and ‘can do’ attitude along with demonstratable knowledge of:

• Delivering outstanding customer service.
• Excellent communication skills.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience of:

• Bar and event work.
• Working in a customer focused environment.
• Of working as part of a team and self motivated to work under own initiative.

This role requires manual handling and moving equipment due to setting up events, also movement up and down ladders on our historic vessels in set up, breakdown and during events.

We require applicants to hold a driving licence, as escorting suppliers and clients through the Naval Base is part of the role.
