Volunteer Coordinator, Yeovilton based

Salary: £22,000 per annum (£10,267 pro rata per annum)

17.5 hours per week – permanent

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator (working within the HR and OD team) to be based at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton to support the development of volunteering at the National Museum of the Royal Navy within the South West.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop new volunteering partnerships in the South West to help diversify our volunteering opportunities to support our collections, learning and visitor experience colleagues to do more.   We are looking for a creative, proactive individual with experience of recruiting and working with volunteers and developing volunteer partnerships.

Key Opportunities

• To identify and develop volunteer roles for a diverse range of audiences including work experience, student placements, corporate volunteering days, etc.

• Instrumental in building upon our ‘Volunteer Makers’ digital platform to develop remote/digital volunteering opportunities.

• Support staff to manage volunteers and help with recruitment, induction, training and development of volunteers including reward and recognition initiatives.

• To develop volunteering partnerships within the South West region.

Knowledge/Experience

Previous experience in the recruitment, selection and management of volunteers.  An understanding of museums and heritage would be desirable.

Ability to work confidently under own initiative on a range of tasks simultaneously with a degree of autonomy within a busy working environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to build good working relationships with volunteers, staff and external partnerships.
