Salary: (full-time) £22,000 - £24,500 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Salary: (part-time) £11,000 - £12,250 per annum pro-rata

We have two permanent positions - 37.5 hours per week and 18.75 hours per week

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a full-time and part-time Learning Producer to join the LEAP (Learning, Engagement, Access and Participation) team at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our LEAP team and deliver engaging museum learning programmes at NMRN. Your role will be varied.  You will work with school groups, youth groups (such as the Scouts and Guides), university students, families and learners of all ages.

You will be an engaging museum educator. You will be up to date with developments in museum learning and be able to think creatively.

Reporting to the Learning Manager (Creative Approaches) this role is pivotal in creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

Key Opportunities

• Work as part of a team to develop and create thrilling formal and informal learning activities for the Museum's audiences.

• Work as part of a team to deliver formal and informal learning activities across the Museum’s sites, galleries and as outreach (if required).

• Work with colleagues to develop interpretation and targeted resources which delivers learning outcomes for different audiences.

• Support, train and develop other staff and volunteers involved in engagement activities, ensuring quality of delivery.

• To work with colleagues across NMRN to develop effective multi-site approaches to learning, engagement, access and participation.


• A relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience is required for this role.

• Knowledge of current thinking around museum learning and engagement practice.

• A positive attitude and passion for museum learning and engaging with different audiences.
