Salary (Grade 2): £18,800 per annum (£7,770 per annum pro-rata)

Hours:  15.5 hours per week average
Annualised hour contract – 17.13 hours per week peak season (April – November including Christmas period), 13.13 hours per week off peak season (November – March) (annualised 810.5 hours)

A flexible approach to work is needed as this post works on a 7-day rota - which will include working regular (not every) weekends (with days off during the week).

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking for a supervisory role to help deliver a first-class visitor experience at our unique Hartlepool attraction.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this varied role is pivotal in creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

Key Opportunities

• Supervising the day to day operations of the site, working closely with the Visitor Experience Managers to deliver unique, consistent and high levels of visitor experience and satisfaction.
• First step into a managerial level role which includes key holding responsibilities, ensuring opening and closing procedures are adhered to.
• To support the wider management team in positively managing and helping to make a real difference to the visitor experience.
• Cash handling and banking responsibilities.
• To support the Visitor Experience team to ensure the security of the location and all its components, with special attention to buildings and collections, and that the safety of all visitors and staff is maintained.
• Work in a unique heritage environment at the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool.


• Ideally, applicants have supervisory experience in a customer focused environment with experience of delivering outstanding customer service.
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.
• Retail and catering experience an advantage.
• Experience of successfully working within teams is essential as team work is extremely important to us.
