IT Support Engineer
Salary (Grade 5):  £25,700 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - permanent
Location: Ability to adopt hybrid working (this can be a combination of working from home and 3-4 days per week at our Portsmouth site).

The Coronavirus pandemic accelerated the need for increased IT and digital capabilities.  To support this, we are restructuring our IT team to support the development and implementation of business transformation and ensure the resilience of our systems.  As a result, we are introducing IT Support Engineer roles to support in the delivery of a proactive and customer orientated IT service, delivering a robust, efficient and secure IT infrastructure and capabilities including: network management, server management, local desktop support, desk and mobile telephony, hardware and software provisioning and distribution, audio visual equipment support, applications support and inventory management. 

As an IT Support Engineer, you will work alongside other members of the IT team, acting as a first point of contact for our users. This role will include troubleshooting PC software and hardware problems and may also include occasional Windows server maintenance in order to support the various IT software applications in use across the organisation.

Knowledge/Experience

We are looking for someone with a proactive attitude who is able to identify tasks and plan ahead, helping to provide an efficient IT service to the National Museum. 

• You will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in IT and want to develop your IT skills.
•  Previous IT experience is essential, be that through an existing role, or through a qualification gained through college/university or volunteering.
• You will have the ability to organise and prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.

This role is based in Portsmouth but requires the IT Support Engineer to visit other sites from time to time. You will also be on a rota to respond to out of hours calls, which may occasionally require attendance onsite to resolve any technical issues significantly impacting the business (if you are called out of hours you will be eligible for an on-call payment).
