Salary (Grade 2):  £18,800 per annum (£9,024 per annum pro-rata)

Hours: 18 hours per week average, working a 2-week rota pattern – Week 1 - 16 hours, Week 2 - 20 hours. 4 hour shifts, including working every Saturday.

Location: National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a Welcome Host to join our Visitor Experience team working in a unique heritage environment. We are home to HMS Victory, best known as Lord Nelson’s flagship, as well as many other fantastic attractions such as M.33 the sole remaining British veteran of the Gallipoli Campaign, HMS Warrior and HMS – Hear My Story a major exhibition situated in the Babcock Galleries. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking for a customer facing role to deliver a first-class visitor experience .

Knowledge/Experience

• Ability to answer numerous and varied visitor enquiries – Historical and general knowledge an advantage alongside the willingness to learn.
• SIA trained or willing to be trained.
• Moderate knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.
• Track record of delivering outstanding customer care.
• Experience of working under pressure.
• Experience of communicating and engaging with a wide and varied audience.
