• 9.75 hours per week, Saturday & Sunday
• 3 hours per week, Saturday

• 11 hours, Thursday & Friday

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting Team Members to join our Visitor Experience team at the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool.

We’re looking for outgoing, enthusiastic new team members who will delight in making sure our visitors have a great day out. Our successful candidates will be flexible, hardworking and able to handle the pressure of working in a busy visitor attraction at our peak times.

You will be expected to engage with our visitors and not just serve them. If you’re looking for variety in a role and love working with people, this could be your ideal role. You’ll work in our gift shop and coffee shops and provide a level of service that makes them an immersive part of the visitor experience. You’ll provide ship tours, assist with live demonstrations (going on to deliver them yourself when you become more comfortable) and you’ll also spend time selling tickets and membership whilst taking the time to find out who your customer is.

Reporting to Duty Managers, these varied roles are pivotal in creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum.

• To maximize income generation via ticket sales, guidebook and merchandise sales, café sales, gift aid conversion and other commercial activity.

• To assist in the safety and security for visitors, staff and property.

• To deliver unique, consistent and high levels of visitor experience and satisfaction, in line with the ethos and branding of NMRN.


• Experience of working in a customer focused environment with retail and sales knowledge is essential

• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.

• Track record of delivering outstanding customer care.

• Experience of working under pressure.

• Experience of communicating and engaging with a wide and varied audience.
