What are the opening times? 

10 am – 5pm, Monday - Sunday.

When is the last admission?

4.00pm, but we do advise you to leave about 1 hour 30 minutes for the tour.

Where is HMS Caroline?

HMS Caroline is located in Alexandra Dock, Queen’s Road, Queen’s Island, Belfast, BT3 9DT.

How do I get there? 

By train:
Titanic Quarter Station is the nearest station. From there take the pedestrian footbridge into Titanic Quarter and turn left onto Sydenham Road. Turn right onto Queens Road.

By road:
Vehicles approaching Belfast on the M1 or M2 should follow the signs to Belfast City Airport M3, taking the first exit for Titanic Quarter.

Public Transport:
Take the G2 Glider from Belfast City Hall to Catalyst Inc. stop. Walk through Catalyst car park to reach us at Alexandra Doc.
Metro Services 26, 26B, 26C & Airport Express 600A/ 600B. Metro Services depart from City Centre (Wellington Place – Service D). Journey time is approximately 10 minutes from City Centre.

What parking facilities are available?

There is ample free parking in HMS Caroline's car park that visitors are welcome to avail of. There are a number of car parking facilities available within the Titanic Quarter.

Do you accept Tesco Clubcard points? 

You can redeem Tesco Clubcard points against adult, child and concession tickets at anytime. For more information on how to redeem them, visit our dedicated Tesco Clubcard page. 

Where are the toilets?

The toilets are situated on board the ship and include accessible and baby changing facilities.  Bathrooms are not available for non-ticket holders.

Is there a café?

The Mess Deck Café is located on board the ship. The café offers a traditional barista service as well as a menu of hearty and wholesome light meals and snacks.

Where can I find information on group bookings? 

We welcome groups big and small. Our brand new group guide brochure gives you the latest information on our tours, facitlites and booking processes. 

Refund/Cancellation policy.

Tickets are non-refundable but are changeable within 6 months of the original date chosen, subject to availability.    

Footwear

Please note, high heels with a diameter smaller than a 2p coin (2.5cm) cannot be worn on board the ship.  Heel caps that can be fitted should be purchased in advance.

What type of tour is it?

It is a self-guided tour, completed at your own pace.

Is the self-guided tour available in a number of languages?

It is available in 6 languages. These are English, Italian, Spanish, German, French and Chinese.

Is the ship accessible?

HMS Caroline is the most accessible historic ship in the UK.  Access to the three public levels has been made as accessible as possible.  Areas that are not accessible can be experienced through the Virtual Access Suite.   Please be advised that access to the ship will be restricted for the safety of accessible users during period of high tide.  The narrowest door on the ship is 64cm. We would suggest to customers with additional mobility requirements to come 60 minutes either side of high tide as the gangway can become steep as the tide rises. Is there a coach drop off point/parking?

Yes there will be a turning circle available as a drop off point. Ask the Visitor Experience Team Member about coach parking on arrival.

When is the best time to visit?

Our busiest times are during the school holidays and at weekends, so if you would like to avoid the crowds, please book your group visit at other times.

Can I smoke on board?

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is strictly prohibited on board. 

How long does the tour last for?

The tour will take approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Is it suitable for children?

The HMS Caroline visitor experience is designed to appeal to a wide variety of audiences including children.  The Battle of Jutland opening show is quite loud and features scenes of war at sea – this can be bypassed if a parent deems it to be unsuitable for their child.

Are there luggage storage facilities available? 

Currently there are no storage facilities available at HMS Caroline for luggage, such as suitcases, backpacks etc.

Can I volunteer at HMS Caroline? What would this involve?

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who currently work alongside our staff members at HMS Caroline. Volunteers contribute in a variety of ways across all facets of the museum, at one-off events as well as in more regular volunteering roles. From engaging visitors with the unique history of the ship or carrying out preventive conservation work to transcribing historical documents or supporting our learning team with school visits, our volunteers are an integral part of the museum team. Volunteering at HMS Caroline can help support your secondary or tertiary studies, enable you to gain practical museum skills, meet new people and above all is a fun and exciting environment of which to be apart.
